PokerBias.com wants to help you learn to win at poker, but before you can win at poker, you need to learn how to play poker. Poker isn’t some sort of toy that comes with easy to assemble instructions. There are a several types of games with different rules and strategies. You can also find different betting structures (like Limit versus No Limit) and different game formats (like normal “ring” games versus tournaments).
My blog aims at offering information on how to play poker online or offline and have the knowledge to make the right decision. Playing poker is about strategy, psychology and being creative against your opponent(s). My objective with this blog is to offer help with how to play poker and how to win at poker. Being creative, logical and practicing situational thinking is key to being successful at poker online or offline.
Here on PokerBias.com I will periodically post poker strategy articles that will cover the basics that you need to be aware of before starting to play for real money. I don’t recommend playing for real money before you do know what poker is about. You might consider that if you know the poker rules you are ready to start gambling money. What I want to underline is that poker has recently been accepted in the category of games that require skills to be played such chess for example. You will find a detailed article of this on the blog in the following weeks.
Nowadays, you will probably ask yourself if you want to play poker online or in a real life casino. The choice is entirely yours. You are free to choose what ever suits you best. The most famous poker players usually do both and that doesn’t come as a surprise because playing poker online can be done from the comfort of your own home with zero distractions around.
The most famous type of poker played today is holdem texas poker, poker texas holdem or just simple called holdem. The game consists of two cards being dealt face down to each player and then five community cards being placed face-up by the dealer—a series of three (“the flop”) then two additional single cards (“the turn” and “the river”), with players having the option to check, bet, raise or fold after each deal; i.e., betting may occur prior to the flop, “on the flop”, “on the turn”, and “on the river”.
I would like to say one more thing about playing poker before the end: there is no such thing as a recipe for winning poker hands. I give you credit for some hands being more powerful than others, but even so, having the best hand at the table to start with, doesn’t mean that at the end, the pot will be yours to take. I hear lots of people that talk about legendary poker winning hands such as AA, KK, QQ and complaining about getting beaten with those. I should have won they say, but I say different: did you apply the correct strategy? And they answer: what is that? going all in? The answer is: depends on the situation and players at the table. So as a final word: there are no sure winning hands of poker and some sure losing hands of poker. The player behind the cards is the magician.
I hope that this introduction has made you at least curious about poker or maybe even about how to win at poker if you already play and don’t have much success. It doesn’t matter if you are a beginner or not, on this blog you will find information on how to improve your game and start winning money.
